David Selassie Opoku is a technical educator and enabler at heart. He enjoys building things that elevate the technical capabilities and dignity of individuals, organisations, and communities, especially in resource-constrained contexts.

Over the past decade, he has worked with and built technical teams of journalists, entrepreneurs, academics and governments in over 30 countries across 5 continents, working with Unicef, the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology, Open Knowledge Foundation, World Bank, Open Contracting Partnership, Growing Gold Farms andHelloFresh. He is based in Berlin, Germany and is a Senior Technical Instructor at dbt Labs.

David holds a BA in Biology from Swarthmore College and an MS in Computer Science, specialising in Bioinformatics, from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the USA. He is also a 2015 School of Data Fellow and 2021 Stanford University Digital Civil Society Lab Practitioner Fellow.
