Bridging Borders and Empowering the Diaspora
I am César Vargas, a proud Mexican living in Brussels, where I have dedicated my career to fostering stronger ties between Latin America and the European Union. As the founder of the EU LATIN BUSINESS FORUM, I lead the only organization in Brussels that specializes in promoting business opportunities between these two regions. My work is rooted in a deep belief that collaboration across borders is essential for mutual growth and prosperity.

After earning a Master’s degree in International Development from the University of Antwerp, I recognized the unique role I could play in bridging the gap between Latin America and Europe. Living in Brussels, a hub of international policymaking, has allowed me to amplify the voice of the Latin American diaspora and create platforms where our contributions are recognized and valued.

As a diaspora leader, I am passionate about representing the interests of Latin Americans in Europe, fostering networks, and highlighting the economic, cultural, and social potential of our community. I actively engage with policymakers, business leaders, and cultural organizations to build a stronger connection between our regions.

One of my proudest initiatives is Friends of Mexico, a project aimed at supporting the modernization of the EU-Mexico Global Agreement. This effort brings together key stakeholders in Brussels and Mexico City, culminating in dual events that showcase the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation. Through projects like these, I strive to ensure that the voices of the diaspora are central to shaping policies that impact our communities.

In addition to my advocacy work, I write opinion pieces for platforms focused on business and international relations, emphasizing the strategic importance of Mexico and Latin America in today’s global economy. My newsletter, which has grown into a premium resource for professionals, offers sector-specific insights, exclusive interviews, and networking opportunities for those engaged in EU-Latin American trade.

I also bring a unique perspective to Brussels as a professional tour guide, sharing the history and culture of this vibrant city with visitors from around the world. Whether I’m leading a group through Brussels’ iconic landmarks or facilitating conversations between Latin American entrepreneurs and European stakeholders, my goal remains the same: to build bridges and create opportunities.

As a diaspora leader, I am driven by the desire to empower others, connect communities, and foster mutual understanding. I am committed to ensuring that the Latin American diaspora in Europe is recognized not only for its rich cultural heritage but also for its potential to shape a more inclusive and dynamic global future.
