Mimoza Kusari Lila, Chairperson of the Alternativa party – Head of the Parliamentary Group of the Vetëvendosje Movement
Mimoza Kusari Lila is a deputy in her third term in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, chairwoman of the largest parliamentary group in the Assembly of Kosovo, the Vetëvendosje Movement, at the same time a member of the Committee for Economy, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade.
Kusari Lila is also the leader of the liberal party, Alternativa. She served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and Minister of Trade and Industry from 2011-2013 and was the first and only female Mayor of a municipality in Kosovo, of the Municipality of Gjakova from November 2013 to 2017. Mimoza Kusari-Lila entered politics in 2003 when she took the position of spokesperson and political advisor to the then Prime Minister of Kosovo, Bajram Rexhepi. She was the spokesperson of the government of Kosovo for more than a year. Ms. Kusari Lila has also directed the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo for more than three years, accrediting it with the American Chamber in Washington DC and the Council of European American Chambers in Brussels.
Kusari-Lila completed her master’s degree at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Kusari-Lila studied through the “Ron Brown Scholarship Program”.
